This painting came through me after falling in love on the Kalalau trail, and then going back and hiking all 22 miles barefoot.
This painting tells a story of love, life, and ancestry. The faces in the sky and land represent ancestors who passed the gift of life down to the present day, where two faces converge at the top of the waterfall. The waterfall, which is shaped like a pregnant woman, represents new life. Without the support of the land, this water would not flow, just as without our ancestors and the love they made, we would not exist.
