This painting is like a prologue for the body of artwork I created last year. On a trip to Kauai with my sisters, we all sat and sketched this same view. I had no idea that this view was the very place that would inspire several of my paintings later that year - Kalalau. But I left with a deep knowing that I had to return and hike the Kalalau trail.
