This original acrylic pour painting is inspired by my experiences on Kauai’s Kalalau trail. Kalalau is a very sacred place that deeply touched me by opening my heart. This heart opening felt like a push to give, serve, and love more and more every day. The experience was more than a hike or even a pilgrimage. It was deep medicine for the heart. It is my prayer that anyone who looks at this painting receives this heart opening medicine.
This painting began with a plein air sketch done on the Kalalau trail, which was transferred to the canvas and painted from memory and intuition. Instead of using brushes to apply paint, I intricately swirled pour paint with toothpicks.
